    Copa Libertadores

    Led by Juan Carlos Lorenzo and thanks to unforgettable players, Boca conquered their first international cup beating Cruzeiro in Montevideo and a legend was born.

    Intercontinental Cup

    Toto Lorenzo’s team reached the top of the world after a 2-2 draw in La Bombonera and a 3-0 win away to Borussia Mönchengladbach, in Germany.

    Copa Libertadores

    A strong and talented team, again led by Lorenzo, reached glory facing Deportivo Cali (0-0 and 4-0) and getting the first American back-to-back.

    Supercopa

    Boca were again heroes at international level, obtaining the 1989 Supercopa, a tournament reserved for Libertadores champions, beating Independiente on penalties (5-3) after two 0-0 draws.

    Recopa Sudamericana

    Boca, champions of the Sudamericana, beat Atlético Nacional de Medellín, champions of the 1989 Libertadores, in Miami. This secured them the second edition of this cup.

    Master Cup

    Reserved for champions of the Supercopa, Racing, Cruzeiro, Olimpia and Boca. The Xeneizes won it beating Cruzeiro 2-1 in Buenos Aires.

    Copa de Oro Nicolás Leoz

    Boca won the first edition of this cup reserved for the four international champions of the previous season. They got the better of Atlético Mineiro, 0-0 and 1-0.

    Copa Libertadores

    Under Carlos Bianchi, Boca were again South American champions after 22 years. They triumphed after a memorable penalty shoot-out against Palmeiras (2-2 and 0-0) at the Morumbí stadium in São Paulo.

    Intercontinental Cup

    Boca won their second World Cupafter a 2-1 win against Spanish giants Real Madrid, in Tokyo, with two goals by Palermo.

    Copa Libertadores

    Boca didn’t slow down and got a Libertadores back-to-back beating Cruz Azulin a thrilling penalty shoot-out (1-0 in Mexico and 0-1 in La Bombonera).

    Copa Libertadores

    Carlos Bianchi returned to the club that year and the cycle began in the best possible way. Boca won their last seven matches, including the final in Brazil against Santos, and lifted their fifth Libertadores.

    Intercontinental Cup

    World giants like Italian team Milan surrendered to Bianchi’s Boca. In Yokohama, Japan, itwas 1-1 after extra time, then Boca won the penalty shoot-out.

    Copa Sudamericana

    Boca extended their winning streak with the 2004 Sudamericana after beating Bolivian team Bolívar. Miguel Brindisi was coaching when the tournament began; Jorge Benítez had taken over by the time it had ended.

    Recopa Sudamericana

    Alfio Basile’s Boca began its winning cycle beating Colombian team Once Caldas (Libertadores champions) thanks to a 3-1 win and a 2-1 defeat away.

    Copa Sudamericana

    Boca successfully defended the title against Mexican Los Pumas, after an unforgettable penalty shoot-out (1-1 home and away, then 4-3) where goal keeper Roberto Abbondanzieri was the hero.

    Recopa Sudamericana

    Basile’s Boca ended a golden cycle with another international triumph, against Libertadores winners São Paulo. It was 2-1 in La Boca and 2-2 in Brazil.

    Sixth Libertadores

    Under the command of Miguel Russo, Boca were again South American champions thanks to masters like Riquelme, Palermo and Palacio. Again in Brazil, against Gremio, winning 3-0 and 2-0.

    Recopa Sudamericana

    Boca, Libertadores champions, beat Sudamericana champions Arsenal by 3-1 in Sarandí and after a 2-2 draw at home obtained the title. Carlos Ischia was the coach.
